Terms of Service

Last updated: March 2026

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of mkdn.io and the services provided by mkdn LLC (“we”, “us”, or “our”). By using mkdn.io you agree to these Terms.

1. Service Description

mkdn.io hosts Markdown documentation from GitHub repositories and serves them as rendered web pages. You connect a GitHub repository, and we make it accessible at a subdomain of mkdn.io. We may also support custom domains.

2. Account & Access

Access to mkdn.io requires a GitHub account. When you sign in with GitHub OAuth, we request permission to read your public profile (name, username, avatar, and email). We do not request write access to your repositories. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your GitHub account.

3. Age Requirement

You must be at least 13 years old to use mkdn.io. The service is not directed at or intended for children under 13. If we learn that an account belongs to a user under 13, we will terminate that account promptly and delete all associated data. Users in jurisdictions with a higher minimum age of digital consent are responsible for ensuring their use complies with applicable local law.

4. User Responsibilities

You agree to use mkdn.io only for lawful purposes. You must not:

  • Publish illegal, defamatory, obscene, or harmful content
  • Use the service for phishing, spam, or impersonation
  • Attempt to circumvent rate limits, access controls, or security measures
  • Use the service in a way that degrades performance for other users
  • Publish content that infringes on any third party’s intellectual property rights

5. Content Policy

mkdn.io is a documentation platform. The following categories of content are strictly prohibited:

  • Sexually explicit material — including pornography or content that is sexual in nature
  • Content unsuitable for minors — including graphic violence, gore, or material that would not be appropriate for audiences under 18
  • Illegal content — including content that violates any applicable law or regulation, or that facilitates illegal activity
  • Hate speech — content that promotes discrimination, hatred, or violence on the basis of race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or other protected characteristics
  • Malware and exploits — content designed to compromise the security or privacy of others
  • Privacy violations — publishing private personal information of others without consent

We reserve the right to remove content that violates this policy and to suspend or terminate accounts responsible for such content, with or without prior notice depending on severity.

6. Content Ownership

You retain full ownership of all content in your GitHub repositories. By connecting a repository to mkdn.io, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to fetch, render, cache, and serve your content solely for the purpose of operating the service. We do not claim any ownership over your content.

7. Service Availability

mkdn.io is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability, and we are not liable for any downtime, data loss, or damages arising from use of the service. We may modify or discontinue features at any time.

8. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or delete sites that violate these Terms, without prior notice in serious cases. Sites found to be engaged in phishing, trademark infringement, impersonation, or other abuse may be suspended immediately upon completing our abuse review process — see Section 12. You may delete your sites and account at any time from the dashboard. Upon deletion, your configuration data is permanently removed.

9. Third-Party Services

mkdn.io relies on third-party services to operate:

  • GitHub — content source and authentication provider
  • Cloudflare — hosting, CDN, and edge infrastructure
  • Stripe — payment processing for paid plans
  • Resend — transactional email delivery

Your use of these services is subject to their respective terms of service.

10. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify users of significant changes via the dashboard or email where possible. Continued use of mkdn.io after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

11. Contact

If you have questions about these Terms, please contact us at support@mkdn.io.

12. Abuse Reporting

mkdn.io has a zero-tolerance policy for phishing, impersonation, and trademark or copyright infringement. We are committed to swift action against abusive use of our platform.

  • Submit a report: Use our Abuse Report Form or email abuse@mkdn.io. No account required to file a report.
  • What to include: Reporter contact information, the infringing subdomain, description of the abuse, supporting evidence (screenshots, archived links), and for trademark claims — the trademark name and registration number.
  • Review SLA: We aim to review all reports within 48 business hours. Urgent cases involving active phishing or credential theft are prioritised.
  • Outcomes: Confirmed violations result in immediate site suspension. The site owner is notified and may appeal. Repeat violations may result in account termination.
  • Counter-notice: If your site was suspended in error, you may contest the decision by emailing abuse@mkdn.io with your reference number and supporting information. We will review within 5 business days.
  • Good faith: We reserve the right to take action on reports that we determine in good faith to represent abuse, even absent formal trademark registration, where the activity is clearly harmful or deceptive.
